Planes, Trains and Automobiles
My worst vacation ever was probably the summer we were going to do a 2 or 3 week camping trip in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and instead ended up spending a week in Escanaba because our car broke down--which ended up scuttling most of the bits of the trip I was most interested in. There is nothing worse than being 14, bored, and with nothing to read in Escanaba.
Of course, now that I'm adult, I can see how my parents must have been freaking out over how much the car repair cost (the crank case cracked--not cheap), and having me and my sister fighting for the whole time probably didn't make things any more pleasant for them.

I've been on that vacation! We were in Bakersfield, California and it was HOT.
Oh, yes, that too. What I didn't mention was that we were camping and my family's particular curse is that whenever we camp, there are massive rain storms. Luckily, we had a camper but it was close quarters and there was crankiness.
